They call it "the ultimate book club meeting." The annual Kentucky Women's Book Festival is Saturday at the University of Louisville's Ekstrom Library, and features readings and discussions with Bluegrass literary luminaries Bobbie Ann Mason, Holly Goddard Jones, Sena Jeter Naslund, George Ella Lyon and more. All events are held in the Ekstrom Library building, and everything but the boxed lunch for the lunchtime session is free. The event opens at 9:30 a.m. with George Ella Lyon, author of numerous books for children and adults, who will read from "Many-Storied House," her fifth collection of poems, and offer a writing prompt. Bobbie Ann Mason, the award-winning author of "Shiloh and Other Stories" and "In Country," will read from her most recent book, the World War II novel "The Girl in the Blue Beret," at 10:30. Both events are in the Chao Auditorium.  This year's lunch speaker is Holly Goddard Jones, award-winning author of "Girl Trouble" and the new novel "The Next Time You See Me." (Hear Jones read an excerpt on WFPL's Unbound.) She will read during lunch in the group study room on the first floor (east). The event is open and free, but lunch is $16 (call 502-852-8976 to reserve). The day also includes readings by Louisville author Sena Jeter Naslund, who reads from her most recent novel "The Fountain of St. James Court, or Portrait of the Artist as an Old Woman," and a talk on "Black Arts Movement Pride, Walker’s Womanism and Hillbilly Sisterhood: the African American Women’s Literary Series in the 1990s" by Louisville writer and scholar Mariam Williams. Registration and coffee are open at 9 a.m. in the Chao Auditorium Lobby.
