Byline Today: Louisville Cardinals' Jeff Walz, Coal Declines and More

The Louisville Cardinals women's and men's basketball teams play this weekend in the Final Four—meanwhile coal is declining and an exhibit in Louisville focuses on the Transatlantic slave trade. Hear about these topics and more this afternoon on Byline.

The Louisville Cardinals women's basketball team is the surprise team of this year's Final Four. I'll talk to Coach Jeff Walz about their upset wins over the Tennessee Lady Vols top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears and how the team plans to pull off two more upsets to win the national title.

Meanwhile, UofL's men's team is the favorite in Atlanta. WFPL's Gabe Bullard—sitting in as host for Rick Howlett this week—talks to The Courier-Journal's C.L. Brown about Rick Pitino's team and their prospects for a national championship.

Afterward, WFPL's Erica Peterson will discuss coal production, which has declined to its lowest levels since 1965.

And the Strange Fruit team talks about an exhibit at the Spirits of the Passage exhibition at the Frazier History Museum.

Join us for these stories and more at 1 p.m. today at 89.3 or streaming at WFPL.org.
