Byline Today: Security for Derby Events, Progress Kentucky and More
Security changes for Thunder Over Louisville and the Kentucky Derby, the latest on the recording of a Sen. Mitch McConnell strategy meeting and controversy at Murray State University. These topics and more will be discussed this afternoon on Byline.
After Monday's bombing during the Boston Marathon, officials announced plans to increase security during Saturday's Thunder Over Louisville and for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks. I'll join host Rick Howlett to discuss what Louisville Metro Police and others have planned.
WFPL's Phillip M. Bailey and Kentucky Public Radio's Kenny Colston will update where stands the investigation into the McConnell recording.
The Board of Regents at Murray State University recently declined to renew the contract with the school's president—but now it appears they'd earlier held a meeting that violated Kentucky's open meetings law. Chad Lampe from WKMS public radio—the KPR affiliate in Murray—will join Rick to discuss the latest.
And The Big Break, WFPL's audio dairies series following performing arts apprentices, has come to a close. WFPL's Erin Keane will discuss.
Join us at 1 p.m. today for these stories and more. Listen at 89.3 or stream at WFPL.org.
