Charlie Strong 'Very Annoyed' By Rumors of Job Interviews
University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong says he won’t discuss any rumors that he’s a candidate for coaching vacancies as the Cards prepare for their Sugar Bowl matchup next month.
Strong spoke to reporters a day after learning that the Cards will play Florida in the BCS game January 2nd in New Orleans.
Last week as the Cards were preparing for their season finale at Rutgers, Strong shot down a report that he had interviewed for the Auburn coaching job.
He repeated today that he hasn’t had any contact with Auburn and does not have anyone representing him.
Strong has also denied reports that he interviewed for the Tennessee job
"I get annoyed, very annoyed, because a lot of times when those rumors come out, people don’t know exactly what they’re talking about," he said.
"If you’re not talking to me, you’re not getting it from me, so why would you ever just start running with something that you don’t have any idea what you’re running with?"
When pressed if he would put the rumors to rest by stating that he would definitely return next season, Strong responded, “I will say that at the right time.”
U of L Athletic Director Tom Jurich says he’s willing to match any offers from other schools to keep Strong in Louisville.
