Charts | Louisville Alcohol-Related Arrests by Metro Council District

The Louisville Metro Council tonight will consider a proposal that cuts off packaged liquor sales at 2 a.m. (At the moment, the limit is 4 a.m.) Stores need a special permit to stay open until 4 a.m., and the majority of them are in West Louisville.Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamiltonproposed the change as a way to reduce crime.As WFPL's Phillip Bailey noted on Wednesday, alcohol related arrests are more common in other parts of Jefferson County than in Bryant's District 5 in northwestern Louisville.Here's a breakdown of alcohol-related arrests using data from Louisville Metro Government:District 4covers downtown and is represented by David Tandy. District 6includes Old Louisville and the California neighborhood and is represented by David James. District 8includes the Highlands area and is represented by Tom Owen. You can find Metro Council districts by address here.While we're at it, here's data on drug arrests by Metro Council district. The data was organized by Mark Schaver of the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting. Here's the data as a table:
