College Football: Cards Honor Seniors; UK Visits Georgia; IU Takes on Ohio State
University of Louisville football fans will bid farewell to 20 senior class players tomorrow at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
U of L, ranked 21st and 15th in the AP and coaches polls, takes on Memphis in the final home game of the season.
Coach Charlie Strong says this group of players helped him build the program when he came on board in 2010.
"You hate to see these guys have to move on, because you’d love for them to (stay). You just think about it, if we could have red-shirted some of those seniors, how good we would be. They weren’t ready to play when we first got them as freshmen but that’s all we had, so that’s what we played with," Strong said.
This could be junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s final game as well. Many expect him to turn pro after this season.
Tomorrow’s kickoff is at noon.
The Kentucky Wildcats will be without three key players for Saturday night’s game at Georgia. Defensive back Cody Quinn and defensive end Jason Hatcher are suspended for one game. Wide receiver Demarco Robinson is suspended indefinitely.
UK announced Thursday that all three were disciplined for violating team rules.
Kentucky is 2-8 on the season with two games remaining under first-year coach Mark Stoops.
"I think we’re putting together a good football team, I love their attitude, I love their work ethic. We need to be better, we need to be more disciplined. I’m not going to bend on those things," Stoops said Monday.
UK and Georgia kick off at 7:00pm Saturday in Athens.
Indiana travels to number four Ohio State for a 3:30pm kickoff. IU is 4-6 on the season; the Buckeyes are 10-0.
