College Football: Cards Host EKU; UK Seeks First Win For Stoops
The Louisville Cardinals return to college football action Saturday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, where they will host Eastern Kentucky. The Cards are ranked eighth in the country this week in the AP and USA Today/coaches polls.
Coach Charlie Strong recorded his first Louisville victory against the Colonels in 2010.
Both teams won their opening games this season. Strong says he is pleased with his team’s 49-7 victory over Ohio.
"We had a big lead (going into the second half) and we didn’t sit on the ball, but we continued to play. That was key. I told them at halftime what’s going to be critical for us is how we’re going to finish this game, and finish it the right way," Strong said this week.
Eastern Kentucky is 1-0 after beating Robert Morris last week. Kickoff is at noon.
The Kentucky Wildcats hope to notch their first victory for new coach Mark Stoops. They’ll host Miami of Ohio Saturday.
Western Kentucky, which defeated UK last week, visits Tennessee. Indiana takes on Navy in Bloomington.
