College Football: Cards Visit Temple; UK at South Carolina; IU Hosts Penn State
In college football, the Louisville Cardinals return to action after a week off. Number seven U of L opens conference play against the Temple Owls in Philadelphia Saturday, with kickoff set for noon.
The Kentucky Wildcats are trying to get back on the winning track after two straight losses, but they’ll have their work cut out for them tomorrow night at South Carolina.
South Carolina is 3-1 on the season. Coach Steve Spurrier’s team is ranked 12th in this week’s coaches’ poll. UK is 1-2 and coming off losses to Louisville and Florida.
First year coach Mark Stoops hasn’t been happy with his team’s preparation this week. He didn’t hold back his frustration after Wednesday’s practice, saying it lacked effort and attitude.
"We’re right in the middle of a tough stretch and we’re getting ready to play a tough game on the road in a hostile environment," Stoops said. "And with that attitude we’re going to get rolled. And I believe that happened the last time we went down there, right?"
It did. The Gamecocks beat the Wildcats 54-3 in Columbia, where UK hasn’t won since 1999.
Saturday night’s kickoff is at 7:30pm.
Indiana is back in action after an open weekend. The 2-2 Hoosiers host Penn State at noon.
