College Football: Cards Wrap Up Regular Season Thursday at Cincinnati
In college football, the Louisville Cardinals play their regular season finale Thursday night at Cincinnati.
The Cards and Bearcats are in a second-place tie in the American Athletic Conference standings.
U of L’s only loss this season game at the hands of league-leading Central Florida.
A victory Thursday would all but lock up an invitation for the Cards to the Russell Athletic Bowl December 28 in Orlando.
Cards’ offensive lineman Jake Smith says he and his teammates were hoping for a shot at one of the top-tier bowl games, but are still looking forward to playing in the post-season.
"Obviously you want to go to a BCS bowl and that’s what you strive for. You can’t let that affect you. Our body of work is what we put on the field, and that’s what we have to take pride in. If you want to take pride in yourself and in your body of work, then you can’t really focus on what everybody else is doing," Smith said Monday.
This will be the 53rd meeting between Louisville and Cincinnati in the “Keg of Nails” series. The rivalry will be at least temporarily interrupted when U of L moves to a new conference next season.
Thursday’s kickoff is at 7:30pm.
