College Football: U of L Hosts Rutgers in Rivalry Finale
The 8th-ranked Louisville Cardinals take on Rutgers tonight at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Both programs will move to separate conferences next season, but before their rivalry comes to an end, the schools will square off in their lone meeting as American Athletic Conference members.
Coach Charlie Strong’s Cardinals are undefeated in five games heading into the contest, which will be televised nationally by ESPN.
"The national TV is big for us and it gives the whole country a chance to watch us play, and I keep saying and I’ll always say and I tell our team this: They (viewers) have a chance to watch the best team in college football go play. That’s the way we have to go out and perform, and the standard has been raised here," Strong said this week.
Rutgers is 4-1 on the season. U of L has won the teams’ last three matchups. A three-point victory last season in New Jersey set the stage for the Cards’ berth in the Sugar Bowl.
Tonight’s kickoff is at 7:30.
