College Football: Undefeated Cards Host Florida International
The Louisville Cards return to action this weekend, hosting Florida International in their final non-conference game of the season.
U of L is ranked sixth in this week’s national coaches’ poll and is heavily favored over the Panthers, who beat the Cards two years ago but have struggled to an 0-3 record this season.
Cards coach Charlie Strong says he likes his team’s maturity, which was evident when the Cards got off to a shaky start last weekend against Kentucky.
"Sometimes you get in a situation like that and guys start bickering back and forth, but no one said anything. (Now it's) 'hey guys, just play. (Defense), don’t worry about what happens on the offensive side of the ball. Offense, don’t worry about what happens on defense. We have a job to do, let’s go win the football game.' We’re a team, so we’ll win it as a team," he said.
Saturday's kickoff at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium is at noon.
The Kentucky Wildcats are off this week and return to action on September 28 against Florida.
Indiana takes on Missouri Saturday in Bloomington.
