FEC Says Facebook PAC Gave Mitch McConnell Too Much Money

The political action committee tied to Facebook has apparently given Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign an excessive amount in contributions. This is the second letter from the Federal Election Commission this week questioning if the McConnell campaign received more than the legal limit in donations from various individuals and groups.Federal law restricts individual or single-candidate PACs from giving a candidate more than $2,600 per election. Facebook Inc. PAC is a multi-candidate committee, which means it is allowed to contribute up to $5,000.FEC records show Facebook gave McConnell $2,500 in March 2012 and another $5,000 in April 2013.From the FEC:Earlier this year, McConnell and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg met in Washington to discuss immigration reform. The social networking site has also apparently given excessive amounts to the campaigns to re-elect Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Republican John Cornyn of Texas.Facebook has until January 9 to respond.
