Firm Chosen to Develop Financial Plan for Rupp Renovation

A Minneapolis-based consulting firm will help the Lexington Center Corp. develop a financial plan to pay for a renovation of Rupp Arena and construction of a new convention center. Conventions, Sports & Leisure International was picked for the job today at a meeting of the Lexington Center Board of Directors.

“If the finances don’t work, it doesn’t go," said board chairman Cecil Dunn. "So at every step of the way they’ve got to advise us, because when you get to the end of the day and you’ve selected your architects and design and all that, the financing puzzle is still very important.”

CSL has worked with the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the Las Vegas Convention Center, and last year developed a feasibility study for the Lexington Convention Center. The total estimated cost of the Rupp and convention center projects and development of a downtown Arts & Entertainment District is around $250-300 million.
