I-65 Section To Be Shut Down For Weekend Repairs

A three-mile stretch of Interstate 65 northbound in downtown Louisville will be shut down this weekend to allow for repaving work. The northbound lanes of I-65 from the Watterson Expressway to Chestnut Street will be closed from 7:00 this evening  until 5:00am Monday. Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it’s more efficient to shut down the entire stretch than to allow limited traffic and pave one lane at a time."You also get a better final product, because they can pave in tandem, they can have pavers running side-by-side on those adjacent lanes.   And then rollers come behind and compact the asphalt while its still hot and seal up those joints that would normally be between the driving lanes," she said.Northbound I-65 traffic will be detoured via the Watterson Expressway.Repair work also continues on and around the Kennedy Memorial Bridge, causing lane reductions and ramp closures.
