Indiana University Wins Football Opener, 73-35
The Indiana Hoosiers began their college football season with a record-breaking 73-35 win over visiting Indiana State Thursday night.
IU's Nate Sudfeld threw four touchdown passes, and Tevin Coleman rushed for 169 yards and two more touchdowns.
The Hoosiers (1-0) scored 45 points in the first half, their highest total since the school started keeping records in 1949, and broke the Memorial Stadium scoring record by topping the 69 points Nebraska scored in 1978.
IU returns to action next Saturday in Bloomington, hosting Navy.
The Louisville Cardinals open play this Sunday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. The Orange Bowl champs take on Ohio University with kickoff at 3:30pm.
The Kentucky Wildcats and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers square off Saturday night in Nashville. The game begins the tenures of new head coaches Mark Stoops and Bobby Petrino. Kickoff is at 7:15pm.
