Jefferson County Public Schools on a 2-Hour Delay on Friday

Update 7 a.m.: The National Weather Service said it was 2 degrees at about 6 a.m. Friday in Louisville. The wind chill is forecast to be as low as -11.Earlier: Jefferson County Public Schools will again operate on a two-hour delay on Friday because of the winter weather situation.The low temperature Thursday night into Friday morning is forecast to be -5 degrees—and the high temperature on Friday is forecast to be 21, the National Weather Service said.For JCPS, the decision is being made because of the extreme cold and some roads still in poor condition after snow earlier in the week.The temperature at about 6 a.m. may be somewhere in the -5 degrees range—with wind chills in the -15 to -20 degrees range, said Ron Steve, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Louisville. Temperatures will only gradually get warmer through the day. Warmer, as in the low 20s.Oldham County Schools, closed all week because of the weather, said in a news release that schools are expected be open on Friday—but school officials will monitor the weather overnight.
