Jefferson County Teachers Union's PAC Supports District 6 Challenger

The Jefferson County Teachers Association's political action committee—Better Schools Kentucky— has endorsed school board candidate Lisa Willner's bid to unseat District 6 incumbent Carol Haddad, according to a news release sent by Willner.

District 6 covers central Jefferson County. An endorsement by Better Schools Kentucky does not guarantee an election win—as demonstrated in2012—but it does allow the PAC to spend money for an election where voter turn out is often very low.Willner is a Bellarmine University psychology professor and the executive director of the Kentucky Psychological Association. She previously told WFPL she was prompted to run after seeing the results of a state audit of Jefferson County Public Schools earlier this year. She is running against Haddad, who was first elected to the board in the mid-1970s and has served as its chair in previous years, and Patrick John Hughes. Hughes is the father of musician Patrick Henry Hughes, known for his role with the University of Louisville marching band.
