Kentucky Tops Men's AP College Basketball Poll; U of L is Ranked Third
The Kentucky Wildcats, with the nation’s top recruiting class, are ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press' preseason Top 25 men’s college basketball poll.
It's Kentucky's third preseason No. 1 and first since 1995-96 when the Wildcats won the national championship. The other preseason No. 1 was in 1980-81.
The Wildcats finished 21-12 last season and were upset by Robert Morris in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Kentucky beat out Michigan State in a close vote for the top spot.
Defending national champion Louisville is ranked third while Duke is fourth.
Kansas is fifth, followed by Arizona and Michigan. Oklahoma State and Syracuse are tied for eighth and Florida rounds out the Top Ten.
Indiana did not make the poll’s top 25. The Hoosiers were ranked first in last year’s preseason poll.
