Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats Advance in Conference Tournaments
Russ Smith scored a career-high 42 points and No. 5 Louisville cruised to a 94-65 victory over Houston on Friday in the semifinals of the inaugural American Athletic Conference tournament.
Luke Hancock and Montrezl Harrell both added 12 for the Cardinals, the tournament's second seed, who will face Connecticut in Saturday’s championship game in Memphis.
In Atlanta, James Young scored 21 points and Willie Cauley-Stein had six blocks as Kentucky pulled away to beat LSU 85-67 in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament.
The Wildcats advance to Saturday’s semifinals, where they will face Georgia.
Western Kentucky opens play Saturday in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in New Orleans.
