Louisville Cardinals' Kevin Ware Misses Court Date for Reckless Driving, Speeding Citation
University of Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware was cited last month for reckless driving and speeding in Barren County, Ky., and missed a court appearance today to respond to the charges.
WHAS Television first reported that the junior guard was pulled over by police on the night of Oct.26 and charged with driving 95 miles per hour in a construction zone that had a 55 miles per hour speed limit.
Asked about it at the end of his press conference today, U of L coach Rick Pitino said he hadn't heard about the incident.
"I was not aware, and that's his business, it has nothing to do with basketball. Parking tickets, speeding tickets, I don't encourage getting either one, and I'll talk to him about it. It's the first of my knowledge of it. Why he missed the date, I have no idea, but I'm not concerned," Pitino said.
"Obviously I don’t want anybody speeding, I don’t want anybody getting parking tickets, I don’t want anybody losing their lunch pass. I’m sure you’re concerned about it, I’m not. He shouldn’t be speeding first of all, but that’s something he has to address. If he gets his license suspended, he’s going to be doing a lot of walking."
Ware will get a chance to reschedule his court appearance.
He’s been working his way back from a severely broken leg suffered during last season’s NCAA tournament.
