Louisville Cards Football Team Visits UConn; Basketball Team to Hang NCAA Title Banner
In college football, the Louisville Cards will try to notch their eighth win of the season Friday night at Connecticut.
U of L is aiming for a top-tier bowl bid, while the Huskies are a team in transition and are still looking for their first victory.
Connecticut fired head coach Paul Pasqualoni four games into the season, and the Huskies have lost three straight under interim coach T.J. Weist.
Still, U of L coach Charlie Strong says UConn is a much better team than its 0-7 record suggests, and he won’t let his team forget about last season’s triple-overtime loss to the Huskies in Louisville.
"They know that now, because I talk about it enough," Strong said this week. "So they understand just how important games are. We’re not in the position to go waste an opportunity."
Kickoff at East Hartford is at 8:30pm Friday.
The college basketball regular season also begins Friday night for many teams, with Kentucky opening play against UNC-Asheville and Indiana taking on Chicago State.
The Louisville Cards will hang their 2013 national championship banner prior to Saturday’s opener against the College of Charleston.
