Louisville Eyed for Professional Soccer Team, Expects Decision in Next Month

A decision is expected soon about the potential move of a professional soccer team from Orlando to Louisville.Mayor Greg Fischer said team owners want to make a decision in the next month and he wants to make the move a reality.“I’m excited about the opportunity for pro soccer in Louisville," Fischer says. "Now it’s a question of defining what do they need, what can the city provide, how can this be a win for all parties involved. Anytime we can expand the sports presence in Louisville it’s a good thing.”The team is affiliated with the 13 team United Soccer League and would play its home games at Louisville Slugger Field. The league also has teams in Charlotte, Pittsburgh and Phoenix.Fischer says “2015 is when the soccer team would be here and they said they want to make a decision in the next month, or so. We won’t be holding them back from the city, in terms of bureaucracy. So, let’s see what it is they want and it would be great if it could work out.”
