“My Promised Land: The Triumph and Trajedy of Israel.”
One of the most discussed books of 2013 is about a country the world continues to debate: Israel.
Ari Shavit is a longtime Jewish Israeli journalist who tries to humanize the story of Israel in a new book called, “My Promised Land: The Triumph and Trajedy of Israel.”
Expressing both pride and disappointment, Shavit examines each major period of Israel’s history.
He begins with the story of his Jewish grandfather, who was part of the first Zionist movement sweeping into Israel in the early 20th century. Shavit explains why they arrived to Israel in the first place.
