Number of Kentucky Registered Voters Increases
That’s the number of Kentuckians who are now registered to vote in advance of the primary on May 20.
The number is over a two percent increase from two years ago, according to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office.
There are about 400 seats up for a vote this year, from judgeships to state legislators up to the hotly contested U.S. Senate reelection campaign of Mitch McConnell.
But the new numbers will likely only marginally affect the historically-low turnout in primary elections: Two years ago, only 16 percent of registered voters cast a ballot in the primary.
