Pitino 'Having a Blast' as Cards Resume Tournament Run
The Louisville Cardinals will try to keep their Final Four hopes alive tonight with a victory over Oregon in the men’s NCAA tournament.
Top-seeded U of L will take on the Ducks in a Midwest Region semifinal in Indianapolis.
Last year, coach Rick Pitino led the Cards to their first Final Four appearance in seven years, losing to Kentucky in the national semifinal. If U of L gets by Oregon, the Cards will face either Duke or Michigan State for a shot at their second straight Final Four berth.
Pitino says he’s enjoying the ride, calling the past three seasons among the most enjoyable of his long coaching career.
"I never thought I could have as much fun as (I did) my first two years at Kentucky or my two years at Providence. These three years….it’s not just because we got to a Final Four last year, because we got knocked out in the first round three years ago. I’m just having a blast, the kids are just loving, loving individuals and just great to be around," Pitino said at the team's pre-game press conference.
U of L and Oregon will tip off at 7:15 this evening
