Report: Gov. Daniels To Be Next Purdue President
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will become the 12th president of Purdue University when he leaves office, according to the Indianapolis Star.
The newspaper says it has confirmed that Daniels will succeed France Cordova, who’s leaving Purdue next month.
The Purdue Board of Trustees is expected to vote on the selection Thursday.
Daniels is in his second and final four-year term as Indiana governor. Previously, he was budget director for President George W. Bush and an aide to U.S. Senator Richard Lugar.
Late last year, Daniels announced he would not seek the Republican nomination for president, after discussing it with his wife and four daughters. He has also downplayed speculation that he might be asked to join Mitt Romney on the GOP ticket.
