Senate Conservatives Fund Ad Says Mitch McConnell is 'Doing Nothing' to Stop Obamacare

Saying Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is doing nothing to stop President Obama's health care law, a conservative group is making a hefty ad buy pressuring the GOP lawmaker to de-fund Obamacare.

Senate Conservatives Fund is reportedly spending $340,000 on a new TV ad that criticizes McConnell's leadership.

"McConnell is the Senate Republican leader, but he refuses to lead on defunding Obamcare. What good is a leader like that? It's nice that McConnell voted against Obamacare, but we need real leadership to stop it now," the ad says.

The new spot will begin airing Friday.

Watch:

Last month, the group, which was found by former Sen. Jim DeMint,R-SC, launched a statewide radio ad campaign against McConnell, saying he refused to lead the fight against the health care law.

McConnell has said publicly he disagrees with the strategy, adding that a government shutdown won't stop the Affordable Care Act from being implemented. But conservative activists haven't given up their calls for McConnell and GOP senators to do all they can to stop the law from taking effect.

SCF has also flirted with the idea of endorsing McConnell's primary opponent, Matt Bevin. But for now the group is remaining neutral while slamming McConnell over the airwaves.

In a statement to WFPL, McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton reiterated said Senate Conservatives Fund is more interested in attacking McConnell than banding with conservatives to defeat the law.

From Team Mitch:

"There are few organizations in American politics more responsible for the Democratic Majority in the U.S. Senate, and thus the continued existence of Obamacare, than the Senate Conservatives Fund.  It's no surprise that now, when it comes time for conservatives to band together and fight this horrible law, they've instead chosen to attack fellow conservatives rather than work alongside to protect Americans from the affects of Obamacare.  Kentuckians have stood next to Senator McConnell for years as he has fought to defund, repeal, delay and dismantle Obamacare and they're not fooled by a group that's only focus is smearing their Senator."
