Tax Amnesty Program Brings in Nearly $57 Million
Kentucky’s 61-day tax amnesty program last fall has netted the commonwealth almost $57 million.
The Finance and Administration Cabinet’s Pamela Trautner says the state received more than 27,000 amnesty applications from every Kentucky county.
"Now as far as the ones who filed through this tax amnesty, the department will monitor those taxpayer for the next three years to make sure they continue to comply and to pay their taxes. Because if they don’t, there is a clawback provision, and all of the interest and fees and penalties can be added back to that taxpayer," she said.
Trautner says the final figures from the program won’t be known until the end of the fiscal year, June 30.
