U of L's Ware Says He'll Plead Guilty to Traffic Offenses
University of Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware says he’ll plead guilty next week to reckless driving and speeding charges.
The junior guard was cited last month in Barren County for driving 95 miles per hour in a construction zone along I-65.
Ware says he missed his original court date this week because of a mix-up on his part.
Cards coach Rick Pitino said after Tuesday night’s game against Hartford that he gave Ware an earful about the incident but saw no reason to suspend him.
"Listen, I’ve benched a lot of players in my time, but not for a speeding ticket. He shouldn’t have been speeding. I told him he took a friend’s generosity in loaning him his car, and ‘you weren’t a very good friend,’" he said.
U of L’s compliance office says no NCAA rules were violated when Ware borrowed the car from a fellow student.
