Update: Louisville Special Olympic Flag Football Team Unbeaten In National Tournament

We shared the story last week of the Louisville Flyers,a flag football team heading to the national Special Olympics. We're keeping tabs on the team's progress throughout the competition. Here's the first installment. The Louisville Flyers are on a roll. The Flyers are the first Special Olympic flag football from Kentucky to make it to the national championships, being held this year in Princeton, N.J., and, so far, they haven’t lost yet. Here's last week's story on how they got there. The team’s three wins thus far are big ones.On Monday, the Flyers trounced Tennessee 46-0.  They followed that win up with a 45-6 win over Alabama.  Early Tuesday, the team notched another victory with a 44-6 win over Colorado.“I love it,” said James Brown, the team’s 46-year-old running back.Brown said the team is just taking “one game at a time.”Head Coach Danny Lane said the Flyers Tuesday afternoon game against Arkansas will be the team’s toughest match yet.Arkansas was a medal winner in the 2013 Special Olympic U.S. Games.“They are one of the top teams,” Lane said. On Monday, Arkansas beat Alabama 49-2 and then went on to beat Colorado 60-8.You can find updated scores here.A win against Arkansas would be huge for the Flyers placement once they leave group play.  Lane said tournament organizers will gauge each team’s ability during group play and rank them accordingly when elimination play begins.Kevin Craw, an 18-year-old running back on the team, said the team is a little tired, but he's confident going into the game against Arkansas.“I think we can beat them,” he said.  “They’re a really good team, but I think we have it.”Here is a video of the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Special Olympic U.S. Games.
