WAVE 3's Eric Flack and Grind's Liz Huot Discuss Report on Food Truck Cleanliness
Last month, WAVE 3's Troubleshooter Eric Flack did a story on food truck safety. In the piece, Flack points out that some mobile food vendors aren't following the letter of the law when it comes to sanitation.
Fans of food trucks took to Twitter to pick the piece apart. They said it was overly broad, that Flack had found some bad behavior and implied it was endemic of all food trucks. They accused him of taking clips out of context.
Liz Huot, who, along with her husband Jesse Huot, operates the Grind Gourmet Burger Truck also took issue with the report and wrote a response defending her operation and mobile food vendors in general.
Then Flack followed up. He produced a second report that discussed the efforts to put restaurant-style letter grades on food trucks. This is something Huot says food trucks want, but she feels the story presented it as a burden food trucks would be forced to take on.
This week, Flack produced a third story on the issue outlining a meeting the health department had with food truck operators.
Huot declined to be interviewed for the story, and posted to Twitter that she was concerned Flack would distort her statements.
Flack and Huot sat down together in the WFPL studios Friday to discuss the stories.
