WFPL's Food & Drink Week Starts Wednesday
This week, WFPL is turning your radio into a cornucopia.
Beginning Wednesday, it's our inaugural Food & Drink Week. In Morning Edition, Here & Now and All Things Considered, you'll hear stories about Louisville food, drink, farming and eating from the WFPL Newsroom. Highlights include an oral history of bourbon, a profile of Old Forrester, a look at how urban chicken keeping has become a bit mundane and holiday memories and recipes from Edward Lee, Mayor Greg Fischer and others.
And we'll have your favorite holiday specials on Thanksgiving:
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Turkey Confidential
Is the cranberry sauce too tart? Is the stuffing too salty? Can't find the turkey baster? Let Lynne Rossetto Kasper come to your rescue. Eating isn’t simply about achieving the perfect nutritional balance. It also has profound social implications, especially when we sit down with others to share a meal. And so in this special, the American History Guys look back at the history of mealtime in America. From Victorian table manners to the school lunch program, how have our ideas about what, when, and how we eat our meals evolved?
8 p.m. - 10 p.m.: Best of the Best
This special highlights the winning entries of the 13th annual Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition. This is the place to hear the most accomplished producers and best emerging talent from around the world, artists who are shaping the future of public radio.
