Yarmuth Credits McConnell's Fiscal Cliff Negotiations

Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth  says if a deal is reached to prevent hitting the so-called "fiscal cliff," Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell should get some of the credit.

“I certainly appreciate the work he’s doing and it sounds to me like he’s taking the kind of reasonable approach to compromise that we all have been crying out for, for months," Yarmuth told WFPL.If midnight comes and Congress does not reach a deal, taxes on middle-class Americans are expected to increase and automatic across the board spending cuts will be triggered to most U.S. Government departments.McConnell has been at the center of the conversation as has Vice President Joe Biden, but the likelihood of a deal is still uncertain.President Obama urged lawmakers Monday to reach a deal before midnight.Yarmuth says he expects the Senate to vote and pass out a bill this evening, but he remains concerned that House Speaker John Boehner will decide to not take up the measure.President Obama urged lawmakers today to reach a deal before midnight.
