Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth is predicting the end of Kentucky's gay marriage ban now that a federal judge has ruled a key provision unconstitutional.

The decision by Judge John G. Heyburn II found the state law violates the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection clause by denying recognition of same-sex marriages performed outside the state.

A Kentucky state senator has filed legislation to let residents vote on raising the local sales tax for special projects, but he is already doubting its passage in the 2014 legislative session.

Republican Paul Hornback of Shelbyville introduced the bill on Tuesday. It would allow local residents vote on temporary tax increases to pay for special projects.

Alison Lundergan Grimes Web Ad Features Former Democratic Aide

Saying Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has abandoned Kentucky values, Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes released a new web ad Tuesday ripping the GOP leader's record.

The video features west Louisville mother Tanesha Booker, who outlines why she believes McConnell is out of touch. She goes on to say McConnell makes her nervous about her 6-year-old daughter's future.

"We are fighters in the West End," she says. "We're fighting to take care of our families. We're fighting to fulfill our dreams."

Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin is facing intense criticism for reportedly signing a letter praising the bank bailouts despite his constant criticism of the federal assistance program.

Bevin is taking on incumbent Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in a nasty GOP primary battle.

The Bevin camp has made McConnell's support of the $700 billion Troubled Assistance Relief Fund (TARP) in 2008 a chief reason to replace the GOP leader.

Poll: Alison Lundergan Grimes Leads Mitch McConnell 46-42 Among Kentucky Voters

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's popularity is lower than President Barack Obama in Kentucky and less than one-third of registered voters across the state hold a favorable view of the Republican lawmaker.

That's according to a new Bluegrass Poll conducted by the Louisville Courier-Journal, WHAS-TV, Lexington Herald Leader and WKYT-TV in Lexington, which was released Thursday evening.
