Snow in Louisville Area Leads to Slick Morning Commute

Update 10:25 a.m.: Snow TotalsHere's some info from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which in Louisville is responsible for interstate. The numbers are as of 10 a.m. Friday: Bullitt – Snowing  with 1.25 inches accumulation so far, partly covered roads, crews salting and plowing Franklin – currently no precipitation with 0.5 inches accumulation so far, wet pavement, crews salting Henry – moderate snow with 1 inch accumulation so far, partly covered roads, crews salting and plowing Jefferson – moderate snow with 1.5 inches of accumulation, partly covered roads, crews salting and plowing Oldham – moderate snow with 2.25 inches of accumulation, mostly covered roads, crews salting and plowing Shelby – moderate snow with 2 inches of accumulation, mostly covered roads, crews salting and plowing Spencer – moderate snow with 2.25 inches of accumulation, completely covered roads, crews salting and plowing Trimble – moderate snow with 2 inches of accumulation, mostly covered roads, crews salting and plowingEarlier: Parts of the Louisville area may get an inch of snow Friday, timed about precisely to the morning commute, the National Weather Service said.The issue with the snowfall will be "rapidly changing visibility" and slick roads,the weather service said.Some school districts are closed for Friday because of the morning snow. They include:

The weather service said it expects temperatures to drop through the day Friday—it was 34 at 6 a.m., but the forecast daytime high is 29.Louisville and surrounding areas are under a winter weather advisory until 7 p.m.This won't be nearly as much snow as20 years ago today.
