Sound on Film Podcast: Seth MacFarlane is Teaming Up With Patrick Stewart

Hello Brave Listener and welcome to WFPL’s Sound on Film. This week, we're talking about John Krasinski's next directing project, the latest from John Turturro and Patrick Stewart teams up with Seth MacFarlane. Subscribe to Sound on Film using this  link. 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" pick up where its 2012 precursor left off: with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker managing his responsibilities as Spider-Man with his life as Peter Parker, including a complicated relationship with Garfield’s real-life girlfriend Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy.  Much of this film is focused on Spider-Man’s relationship to Oscorp, which is run by Peter Parker’s childhood friend Harry Osborn, played in this film by Dane DeHaan.  Villainy is provided by Jamie Foxx, who plays classic Spider-Man villain Electro. 'Fading Gigolo' "Fading Gigolo" is written by, direct by, and stars John Turturro, who plays Fioravante—a New York handyman who is convinced by Murray (played by Woody Allen) to try his hand as a Gigolo.  As his clientele grows to include Chasidic Avigal (played by Vanessa Paradis), Fioravante struggles to manage his emotions with his occupation. 'Community' NBC has decided, after five hard fought seasons, to cancel "Community." The quirky comedy, headed by Dan Harmon, had a committed audience that loved the show into more seasons than could ever have been expected.  In the wake of the bad news, Harmon was reported to feel “eh” about the show moving to another network or online. But Harmon took to the internet himself to say that he would not be the one to “recancel cancelled Community.”  Will the show end up on another network or online? [ /Film] Blunt Talk Brings Together Patrick Stewart, Seth McFarlane and Starz. What Could Go Wrong? Next year, Starz will air a story about a “mad genius” British TV anchor destined to take American Cable News by storm. This odd pitch will be headed by Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy," "A Million Way to Die in the West") and Jonathan Ames ("Bored to Death") and will star Sir Patrick Stewart ("X-Men," "Star Trek: The Next Generation").  The Verge says, “It's basically "Anchorman" but with Captain Jean-Luc Picard in place of Ron Burgundy.” This seems like one of those things that is either a genius idea or the worst idea in the world. [ The Verge] John Krasinski to Direct 'The Hollars' John Krasinski has decided to direct a film called "The Hollars," about a man named John Hollar who moves from New York City to the Middle America town where he was born. He makes the move for his mother, who undergoes brain surgery.  Krasinski has called this script “one of the best I’ve read, period.” Producer Tim Rice said the film combines elements of "Steel Magnolias" with the youthfulness of "Garden State." "Saturday Night Live" actress Allyson Seeger will executive produce, and the screenplay was written by John C Sprouse.  There have been films that have tried to thread the “earnest yet engaging” needle so effectively threaded by films such as "Steel Magnolias" and "Garden State," but I can’t think of any that have occurred in a long time.
