The group was formed in 2012 as a public-private partnership, working with businesses, nonprofits and government agencies on sustainability issues.
Its last summit in January 2014 focused on community engagement, green buildings and economy, transportation and tree canopy. LSC Interim Executive Director Emily Chandler said the Nov. 6 event would provide a chance for the groups to assess their progress.
The most important aspect, she said, is participation from people across all sectors.
“Our main goal is really to engage and collaborate with people at the summit,” she said. “We want and have representation from the usual suspects … the government agencies and green groups, but it really is open to everybody.”
The summit’s theme is “Improving Our Air Quality.”
“I think my mantra for it is not to have ‘you should’ or ‘they should,’ but rather ‘we will do x, y and z,’” she said.
Board member Tim Darst agreed.
“This isn’t just talking about it,” he said. “This is actually coming up with concrete steps and getting the people together to actually make something happen.”
