U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts visited the University of Louisville on Sunday to stump for Grimes and reform efforts of the country's student loan system.

Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes unveiled a plan Friday that she says will help make college more affordable and ease student loan debt for over a quarter-million Kentucky students.

The plan continues Grimes' push to strike an economic populist chord with voters. It also comes ahead of a weekend rally in Louisville featuring U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, who has slammed Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell for blocking similar legislation.

During a floor speech Thursday morning, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell invited President Obama to visit Kentucky.

The White House is kicking off a number of "Day in the Life" trips across the country this week in an effort to put a face on the struggling middle-class, and to get Obama out of the Oval Office bubble.

Calling the visits a public relations stunt, McConnell all but dared the president talk with Kentuckians about his agenda.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell introduced a bill Wednesday to assist working-class Kentucky parents take care of their children.

The "Working Parents Home Office Act" would give parents a tax deduction for their home office if they have a baby crib.

Currently, federal law does not allow work-at-home parents the opportunity to deduct those costs.

Grimes outlined her criteria for debates—and accepted McConnell's challenge for a possible debate series—in a letter sent Thursday to the Republican Senate leader.

Last month, McConnell issued a challenge to Grimes for a number of "Lincoln-Douglas" style debates, with the first taking place before July 4.
