Hillary Rodham Clinton to Campaign for Grimes in Louisville

U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is getting help from another Clinton — this time from Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The Kentucky Democrat's campaign says the former U.S. secretary of state and potential presidential candidate in 2016 will campaign for Grimes next Wednesday night in Louisville. Grimes spokeswoman Charly Norton said Friday the event is open to the public, and free tickets will be available at Democratic headquarters in all 120 Kentucky counties.

Federal Judge Hears Libertarian Candidate's Arguments Against KET

A federal judge is hearing arguments this morning about whether the Libertarian candidate should be included in a televised debate of Kentucky U.S. Senate candidates.

David Patterson sued Kentucky Educational Television for not inviting him to the debate Monday between incumbent Republican Senator Mitch McConnell and Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes.

The event will likely be the only time voters will see the two debate on statewide television before the Nov. 4 election.

McConnell Has Contentious Interview With Kentucky Sports Radio

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and the host of Kentucky Sports Radio had a series of sharp exchanges Wednesday in a broadcast interview that tackled topics ranging from same-sex marriage to global climate change.

McConnell called in to Kentucky Sports Radio and spoke for over 10 minutes with host Matt Jones, who has made repeated pleas for an interview. McConnell's Democratic opponent in the November election, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, spoke with Jones and KSR in September.

Voter Turnout Key to Kentucky Senate Race, Political Scientist Says

The latest Bluegrass Poll in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race gives Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes a two-point lead over incumbent Republican Mitch McConnell, 46 to 44 percent. 

It’s a six-point swing for Grimes since the previous Bluegrass Poll, conducted in late August. The poll also said Libertarian candidate David Patterson had three percent. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus four percent.

Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes isn’t being honest with voters about her support of Kentucky’s coal industry, according to a video released today by the conservative Project Veritas.

The video by James O’Keefe—who was widely criticized for deceptively editing a video about ACORN in 2009—relies on hidden camera interviews with Kentucky Democratic officials about Grimes and coal, but ultimately doesn't prove much about where she truly stands on coal.

Bluegrass Poll: Grimes Takes 2-Point Lead Over McConnell In Kentucky Senate Race

The latest Bluegrass Poll in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race gives Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes a two-point lead over incumbent Republican Mitch McConnell.

The survey of likely voters has Grimes with 46 percent support and McConnell getting 44 percent. Libertarian candidate David Patterson has three percent, with seven percent of voters undecided. The margin of error is plus or minus four points.

It’s a six-point swing for the Grimes campaign. The previous Bluegrass Poll in late August had McConnell with a four-point lead.

FRANKFORT — Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate David Patterson has asked a federal judge to order Kentucky Educational Television to include him in the station's televised debate on Oct. 13.

Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell and Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes have both said they will participate in the debate. It will likely be the only time voters will see the two debate on statewide television before the Nov. 4 election.

Kentucky’s youngest voters have enough pull to decide the outcome in this year’s U.S. Senate race, according to a Tufts University report.

That fact is pivotal for Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes, who many believe needs a strategy shakeup in order to defeat Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell this fall.

In 2008, McConnell won re-election by about 106,000 votes. This year’s contest could be much closer.
