Bus Tour Backing Minimum Wage Hike to Visit Louisville

Raise The Wage bus tour

A national effort supporting an increase to the minimum wage is coming through Louisville this week.

The multi-state "Raise the Wage" bus tour is meant to pressure members of Congress to support a bill raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.

Raising the rate is a key issue for Democrats such as U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes, whose campaign confirmed with WFPL that she plans to join the tour in Louisville.

The University of Kentucky's athletics department sent Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign a cease and desist letter for using an image of a standout men's basketball player in a campaign video.

McConnell's team was under fire for most of Tuesday after mistakenly using footage of Duke University's 2010 NCAA championship victory when highlighting the state's basketball dominance.

Receiving Louisville Tea Party Nod, Matt Bevin Says Mitch McConnell 'Afraid' to Debate

The Louisville Tea Party has endorsed Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin, who is calling on incumbent Mitch McConnell to take part in a number of upcoming primary debates.

"We polled our membership and overwhelmingly their support was to endorse Matt," says Andrew Schachtner, who is president of the local Tea Party group.

Bevin has already received the official support from the United Kentucky Tea Party, a coalition of over a dozen such groups from across the state.
