Jack Conway Raises $750,000 Towards Kentucky Governor's Race

Attorney General Jack Conway has raised more than $750,000 since announcing his campaign for the Democratic nomination for Kentucky governor less than two months ago.

Conway has about $705,000 in cash on hand, according to the campaign's first report to the state election finance registry. He has donated only $1,000 of his own money to his campaign.

It's a significant amount in such as short period. Conway is the only Democratic candidate running in the primary so far.

Republican Hal Heiner Pours $4 Million Into Kentucky Governor's Race

Republican Hal Heiner gave his campaign for Kentucky governor $4 million out of his own pocket in the last few months, putting the Louisville businessman's campaign far ahead of any potential contenders.

Heiner's campaign announced Monday that it has raised $4.3 million, with no other Republican candidates yet in the race.

The new tally has Heiner with $3.9 million in cash on hand at the end of June.

3 Top Kentucky Democrats Endorse Jack Conway for Governor

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway's campaign for governor received endorsements Thursday from three leading state Democrats.

Conway picked up the support of former U.S. Sen. Wendell Ford, former State Auditor Crit Luallen and current U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, the campaign announced. 

"I am humbled to receive the endorsements of three people who have been so dedicated to standing up for Kentuckians and fighting for the working men and women of our Commonwealth," Conway said in a news release.

State Auditor Adam Edelen Won't Run for Kentucky Governor

Kentucky State Auditor Adam Edelen won't be a candidate for governor in 2015.

Political observers considered Edelen a serious contender. He'd made in-roads toward a run for governor, including courting Democratic donors and nailing down a running mate who was never publicly identified.

Edelen released this statement today announcing his decision:

In 2015, I will be a candidate for re-election as State Auditor.

Republican Hal Heiner is once again taking the lead in Kentucky’s 2015 gubernatorial contest by launching the first TV ad in the race.

The 30-second spot features Heiner, an engineer and former Louisville councilman, touting hay at his farm along the Jefferson-Shelby county border.

In the ad, Heiner tells voters state government needs a political outsider who is willing to shake things up and stand up against federal regulators.

Conway is expected to announce his bid for governor this week, possibly as early as Tuesday.

Those familiar with the decision have leaked that he has plucked state Rep. Sannie Overly, D-Paris, as a running mate.

Crit Luallan Won't Run for Kentucky Governor in 2015

Former Kentucky Auditor Crit Luallen says she will not run for governor in 2015. Luallen has been mentioned as a possible contender as incumbent and fellow Democrat Steve Beshear finishes his second term.       

In a written statement, Luallen said Thursday she is passionate about Kentucky's future but decided not to run because it was the best decision for her family.    

Luallen's decision could open the door for Attorney General Jack Conway, a Luallen ally, to seek the Democratic nomination. Current state Auditor Adam Edelen is also considering running for governor.
