Kentucky Journalist: ‘Impossible’ Mitch McConnell Jobs Story ‘Lost in Translation’ as Senator Claims

A veteran journalist is standing by a report that Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell said it wasn't his responsibility to bring jobs to one Kentucky’s poorest counties.

The Beattyville Enterprise asked McConnell what he was going to do to bring jobs to Lee County at a luncheon last week.

McConnell said that isn't his job in Washington, adding that economic development is an issue for state government.

The nasty Kentucky U.S. Senate Republican battle for incumbent Mitch McConnell's seat has now embroiled one of primary challenger Matt Bevin's children.

In a new 30-second TV ad, one of Bevin's daughters, Olivia, tells viewers not to be fooled by "a bunch of lies" McConnell is telling about her father.

Overall, it's meant to be a positive commercial featuring Bevin's children.

They are praising their father's military record, leadership, and role as a family man.

Alison Lundergan Grimes’ Fundraising Haul Cuts Mitch's McConnell Cash Advantage in Half

For the second time since entering the Kentucky Senate race, Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes' fundraising haul has outpaced Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell.

In the first three months of the year, Grimes raised $2.7 million compared to the $2.4 million McConnell generated for the quarter.

The money advantage still belongs to McConnell, who has raised $22 million overall in a duel campaign against Grimes and GOP primary challenger Matt Bevin.

Bevin announced Monday his campaign raised $1.1 million during the same period.

The absence of African-American women in Kentucky's halls of power is why former state Rep. John Arnold hasn't been held accountable.

That's according to Cassaundra Cooper and Yolanda Costner, two of the three statehouse staffers who have alleged they were sexually harassed and assaulted by Arnold over a three-year period.

Since August, the Arnold scandal has put the treatment of women in the legislature front and center.
