U of L Player Who Collapsed Diagnosed With Blood Clot

University of Louisville basketball player Antonita Slaughter will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a blood clot in her lung.

Coach Jeff Walz says doctors determined the senior had a cardiac event when she collapsed while on the bench early in Tuesday night's victory against Missouri State. The clot was discovered during hospital testing.

Slaughter will immediately begin taking blood thinners that will end her season. Walz says "we're very fortunate this was discovered through testing."

U of L Basketball's Antonita Slaughter Undergoing Tests After Collapse During Game

University of Louisville

University of Louisville basketball player Antonita Slaughter has been undergoing tests at a hospital today after collapsing during Tuesday night’s game against Missouri State.

Slaughter slumped on the bench in the first half of U of L’s 91-49 win.

The senior was taken off the court on a stretcher.

Louisville coach Jeff Walz said Tuesday night that Slaughter, who was alert and talking at the hospital, showed no signs of feeling ill before the game.

Slaughter had started all nine games this season for the Cards, averaging 10 points and five rebounds.
