Speed's Interim Leadership Announced

The Speed Art Museum board of trustees has elected three top Speed leaders to share interim director duties during the museum's executive director search. 

Chief Operating Officer Lisa Resnick, Chief Financial Officer David Knopf and Scott Erbes, the museum's director of collections and exhibitions and curator of decorative arts and design, have been named co-interim directors and will lead the museum during its three-year expansion and renovation project. Resnick will chair the leadership team.

Governor's School for the Arts Suspends New Media Program

Transylvania University hosts the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts summer residential program.

The Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, which provides free studio arts education to talented students, will suspend its new media program for the next fiscal year. The suspension addresses a budget shortfall caused by state spending cuts.

Rock Musical Humanizes Mental Illness

Louisville's CenterStage theater company continues its season this week with the regional premiere of the acclaimed rock musical “Next to Normal.” The show explores the impact of mental illness on a suburban family.

Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt’s “Next to Normal” opened on Broadway in 2009 and won three Tony Awards, but when it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2010, it joined the ranks of only a handful of musicals to earn that distinction.

Video Artist Collaborative Plays with Past, Future

Acclaimed experimental artist Eve Sussman will give a free lecture on her work Thursday at 21C Museum Hotel. The event is produced in partnership with Kentucky School of Art visiting artist program. The talk starts at 7 p.m. with a reception for the artist to follow.
