As a pianist, Seth Rudetsky has played for more than a dozen Broadway shows, including "Ragtime," "Les Miserables" and "Phantom of the Opera." Listeners to Sirius/XM's On Broadway channel know afternoon host Rudetsky, also the hose of "Seth Speaks" on Sirius/XM Stars, is obsessed with Broadway.
Broadway in Louisville brings the hugely popular musical "Jersey Boys" back to the Kentucky Center today for a two-week run. "Jersey Boys" tells the entertaining true story of how four blue-collar kids became Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Their iconic hit singles—written by Bob Gaudio and produced by Bob Crewe—emit an instant retro signal. But they're also pretty timeless, so they work really well in film soundtracks.
The touring production of the Broadway hit “Wicked” previews today and opens Thursday evening at the Kentucky Center. The Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical depicts "The Wizard of Oz" characters Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda the Good as schoolgirls in an oppressive political regime.
Performances of “Wicked” often sell out, but a limited number of steeply discounted orchestra-level tickets will be placed on sale the day of each performance.
The national tour of the hit musical "The Book of Mormon" will be part of next season’s Broadway in Louisville series. Broadway in Louisville won’t announce their 2013-2014 season until March, but a limited engagement of “The Book of Mormon” will be on the slate.
