Is James Comer Anti-Louisville?

Republican gubernatorial candidate James Comer's pledge that the next governor won't be a "millionaire from Louisville" is drawing the ire of a top local Republican.

Comer, the state's agriculture commissioner, made the comments earlier this month at Fancy Farm while announcing his intention to enter the 2015 governor's race.

In response, former Jefferson County GOP Chair Jack Richardson wrote this week in The Courier-Journal that Comer, who is from Tompkinsville, was attempting to exploit Kentucky’s urban-rural divide.

Former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin has remained politically active since losing to incumbent Mitch McConnell in the May primary.

In an unexpected e-mail blast earlier this month, Bevin demanded Democratic Governor Steve Beshear speak out against the Environmental Protection Agency's new carbon regulations.

Hal Heiner Expected to Announce Kentucky Gubernatorial Bid

The 2015 Kentucky gubernatorial contests could see its first official candidate enter the race this week

Republican Hal Heiner is scheduled to announce his intentions at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday morning in Lexington with a follow-up in Louisville.

Heiner is a former Louisville mayoral candidate and Metro Council member who recently launched a new group dedicated to helping the GOP gain a majority in the state House.

Former U.S. Ambassador Mulls 2015 Gubernatorial Bid

Former U.S. Ambassador to Latvia Cathy Bailey is considering a run for Kentucky governor.

Bailey has been a chief fundraiser for Kentucky Republicans since leaving her post.

She told Pure Politics' Ryan Alessi in an interview that she is flattered that her name is among the rumored candidates, but she wants to get past the presidential race and Sen. Mitch McConnell's re-election first.
