Sales of Maker's Mark Pitino Bottle to Benefit Academic Center

One of Kentucky’s best-known bourbon producers is selling thousands more commemorative bottles of its product to raise money for the University of Louisville.

Maker’s Mark is selling 12,600 bottles featuring a photo and tribute to men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino.

Proceeds will to the U of L Center of Excellence, an $8 million facility for student-athletes in all sports that will be built on campus.

Maker’s Mark began producing  U of L commemorative  bottles last year in support of the center, which will be located at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

NCAA Allegations Against U of L's Hurtt Released

University of Louisville assistant football coach Clint Hurtt faces allegations of receiving and providing impermissible benefits while he was an assistant at Miami. The NCAA says Hurtt received a$2,500 loan and provided perks to Hurricanes recruits.

Strong's U of L Contract Extension, Pay Raise Approved

The University of Louisville has approved an eight-year contract extension for football coach Charlie Strong.

The deal will pay Strong an annual base salary of $3.7 million, plus numerous performance bonuses, making him one of the country’s highest-paid college football coaches.

U of L Athletic Director Tom Jurich says Strong deserves it.

"I think he’s already lived up to it and earned it and in every aspect of his coaching ability, he’s got an A+ from me," he said.

Former U of L Football Player Sues Over Alleged Locker Room Beating

A former University of Louisville football player is suing the school and coach Charlie Strong and claims he was coerced into covering up a beating in the locker room by a pair of teammates.

Former Cardinals defensive lineman Patrick Grant of Sunrise, Fla., alleges two teammates attacked him Oct. 24, 2010, in the locker room at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and, according to the lawsuit, beat him "so badly that he required immediate, urgent care and nearly lost his left eye."

Strong Stays with UofL; Jurich Says Cardinals a Top 10 Program

Tom Jurich concedes: He was nervous that Louisville football coach Charlie Strong may leave for the Tennessee Volunteers.

"Are you nuts? Of course I was nervous," Jurich, UofL's athletics director, said during a news conference.
