Reports: Charlie Strong Denies Interviewing for Auburn Job

The Birmingham News reported Wednesday night that Louisville Cardinals head football coach Charlie Strong interviewed for the same position at Auburn University, but Strong denied through other media outlets that any such interview ever took place.

The Birmingham paper's story said Strong interviewed within the past couple of days, perhaps by telephone. The story cited an unnamed source, "someone familiar with the process."

College Football: Big East Title, Bowl Bid At Stake As Cards Visit Rutgers

The University of Louisville football team will play this week for a share of the Big East Conference championship and a likely berth in a top-tier bowl.

The Cards travel to Rutgers Thursday for a nationally televised game.

U of L has lost two straight games after a 9-0 start, but coach Charlie Strong says his players have not lost confidence as they prepare for their regular season finale.

Louisville Cardinals Stuck in Conference Realignment Turmoil, Again

This week, Maryland and Rutgers bolted from the ACC and the Big East, respectively, to the Big Ten (or B1G, as they call it now).

Just like that, the appearance of a fragile peace among college athletics conferences shattered.

The re-arranging again jolted the University of Louisville -- not that the last round of conference realignment ended ideally for the Cardinals, stuck in a Big East whose football membership spanned from San Diego to Annapolis.

So where does this leave UofL? Searching still, it seems.

Big East Splits Into Football Divisions

CHICAGO — The Big East has put most of its new teams into the same division.

The Big East will have a West Division, and Temple, located in Philadelphia, will be part of it.

The conference announced its divisional alignment for 2013, when it becomes a 12-team football league.

The East will have Central Florida, South Florida, Connecticut, Louisville, Cincinnati and Rutgers. The West will have Boise State, Houston, Memphis, San Diego State, SMU and Temple.

The Big East championship game will be played at the home field of one of the participating teams.

College Football: Cards Drop in Rankings; Perry Out for Season

The University of Louisville football team has dropped out of the top ten in the national rankings following the Cards 45-26 loss at Syracuse Saturday, their first defeat of the season.

U of L fell from 9th to 20th in the AP poll and from 10th to 18th in the USA Today/coaches poll.

The Cards also dropped from 9th to 19th in the BCS standings used to determine college football’s national champion and top-tier bowl match-ups.

Cards Climb Into Top 20; Face North Carolina Saturday

The Louisville Cardinals have moved up four spots in the latest national college football polls.

U of L is ranked 19th in this week’s Associated Press poll and 20th in the USA Today/coaches poll following Saturday’s 35-7 win over Missouri State.

Coach Charlie Strong says it’s too early to tell if the Cards are really one of the 20 best teams in the country.
