Louisville Cardinals Retain Assistant Football Coach

Louisville defensive line coach Clint Hurtt will remain on the Cardinals' football staff under "significant" penalties imposed by the school for NCAA violations committed while a Miami assistant coach.

The NCAA Tuesday announced penalties for Miami, including a two-year show-cause penalty for Hurtt requiring compliance updates to the sanctioning body. Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich says that the school had suspended Hurtt but plans no additional action against him.

University of Louisville assistant football coach Clint Hurtt faces allegations of receiving and providing impermissible benefits while he was an assistant at Miami. The NCAA says Hurtt received a$2,500 loan and provided perks to Hurricanes recruits.

U of L's Jurich: Hurtt Will Remain On The Job While Answering NCAA Charges

University of Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich says there will be no change in status for assistant football coach Clint Hurtt while he responds to allegations that he broke NCAA rules in his previous job.

Hurtt received a notice of allegations from the NCAA yesterday and has 90 days to respond.  

The NCAA has been investigating claims that University of Miami recruits were given improper benefits.      Clint Hurtt was a Miami football assistant from 2007 to 2009.

Source: Clint Hurtt, Others Misled NCAA Investigators

A person familiar with the situation says that the NCAA believes former Miami assistant coaches Clint Hurtt, Aubrey Hill and Jorge Fernandez provided false or misleading information during the probe into the university's athletic programs.

Hurtt is currently an assistant football coach for the Louisville Cardinals. He has been on the U of L staff since head coach Charlie Strong was hired in 2010 and is considered one of the country’s top recruiters. The U of L football program is not part of the NCAA investigation.

Report: NCAA to Cite U of L Assistant Hurtt

University of Louisville assistant football coach Clint Hurtt could be accused this week of violating NCAA rules when he was an assistant at the University of Miami.

A source tells CBS Sports that Hurtt, who’s U of L’s recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach, will be cited for unethical conduct for alleged recruiting violations at Miami, where he was on staff from 2007 to 2009.
