University of Louisville Officially Joins the Atlantic Coast Conference

The University of Louisville on Tuesday officially joined the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The ACC is the Cardinals' fourth conference since athletics director Tom Jurich arrived in 1997. At different times during his tenure, UofL's conferences suffered from questionable stability. The ACC allayed those concerns  in November 2012 with an offer for UofL to join.

The Louisville Cardinals join the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday—officially landing the school in a stable conference after a couple of uncertain years.

Louisville leaves behind the American Athletic Conference after a single season. Starting with the 2014-15 season, UofL will face conference opponents such as the Duke Blue Devils, North Carolina Tar Heels and the Florida State Seminoles, the reigning college football champions.

Louisville Cardinals Fall to Vanderbilt In College World Series Opener

The Louisville Cardinals baseball team fell behind the Vanderbilt Commodore in the second inning on a wild pitch Saturday, and stayed behind the rest of the game.

Louisville lost to Vanderbilt 5-3 in its first game of the 2014 College World Series in Omaha.

The Cardinals will play the Texas Longhorns on Monday in an elimination game (the College World Series is a double-elimination tournament).

Cardinals ace pitcher Kyle Funkhouser threw the wild pitch in the third and was credited with the loss. Vanderbilt pitcher Carson Fulmer got the win.

What to Know About Vanderbilt Before the Cardinals' College World Series Game

The Louisville Cardinals take on Vanderbilt on Saturday in the opening round of the College Baseball World Series.

Here’s what you need to know about the Commodores.

The NCAA has Vanderbilt ranked at 14, with Louisville holding the 9th slot.

The Commodores made the College World Series in 2011, but were eliminated by Florida. They were also ranked 2nd by Baseball America at the end of 2012 season.

Here's the Schedule for the Louisville Cardinals' Next Games in the Baseball Super Regional


The Louisville Cardinals baseball team resumes its bid for a second-straight College World Series appearance on Friday afternoon.

The NCAA has the Cardinals playing Kennesaw State at 6:30 p.m. at UofL's Jim Patterson Stadium. 

Louisville and the Kennesaw State Owls will play a best of three series in the Super Regional. They'll play again at 7 p.m. Saturday. The third game, if needed, would be at 6 p.m. Sunday. 

The series winner goes to the College World Series in Omaha.

Bobby Petrino will be the Louisville Cardinals' football coach for the second time, the school announced Thursday.

Petrino, 52, has the best win percentage of any Louisville Cardinals football coach and led the team to a major postseason victory in the Orange Bowl. He had a 41-9 record during his first tenure with UofL from 2003 to 2006. In all, he has 83 career win and is known for his team's offensive prowess.
