U of L Falls to UConn in Women's NCAA Title Game

A community celebration for both U of L teams will be held today (Wed) at the KFC Yum Center.   The University of Louisville women’s basketball team’s run toward an NCAA championship has ended with their defeat in the title game.

The fifth-seeded Cardinals fell to top seed Connecticut  93-60 tonight in New Orleans.

U of L got off to an early lead but couldn’t hold off the Huskies for long, trailing by 19 points at halftime.

UConn won its eighth national title, tying Tennessee for the most women’s championships.

Cards Win!

The Louisville Cardinals have won the school's third NCAA men's basketball title and their first in 27 years,  defeating Michigan 82-76  tonight at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Luke Hancock made four straight three-pointers in the first half, and Peyton Siva and Chane Behanan had monster second halves to lead the top-seeded Cardinals (35-5) to their first national title since 1986.

UK Reaches Elite Eight in Women's NCAA Tournament

For the third time in four years, the Kentucky Wildcats have advanced to the Elite Eight round of the women’s NCAA basketball tournament.

Second-seeded UK defeated number six seed Delaware 69-62 today in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The Wildcats will face top-seeded Connecticut Monday for a trip to the Final Four.

Jennifer O’Neill led Kentucky with 19 points;  A’dia Mathies added 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Louisville Cards Advance to NCAA Elite Eight

Russ Smith matched his career high with 31 points to lead three Cardinals in double figures, and top-seeded Louisville overcame its toughest test yet in a 77-69 victory over Oregon on Friday night in the men's NCAA tournament.

Kevin Ware added 11 and Gorgui Dieng had 10 points and nine rebounds for Louisville, which has now won 13 straight.

Pitino 'Having a Blast' as Cards Resume Tournament Run

The Louisville Cardinals will try to keep their Final Four hopes alive tonight with a victory over Oregon in the men’s NCAA tournament.

Top-seeded U of L will take on the Ducks in a Midwest Region semifinal in Indianapolis.

Last year, coach Rick Pitino led the Cards to their first Final Four appearance in seven years, losing to Kentucky in the national semifinal. If U of L gets by Oregon, the Cards will face either Duke or Michigan State for a shot at their second straight Final Four berth.
