Report: Louisville Cardinals Football Coach Charlie Strong Offered Texas Longhorns Job

Louisville Cardinals football coach Charlie Strong has been offered the same position with the Texas Longhorns, the Associated Press reports.

Citing an unnamed source, the AP added that Strong is expected to take the job.

But WDRB's Rick Bozich reports that Strong has not yet taken the Texas job and is to have a staff meeting Saturday morning. Bozich writes:

Louisville Cardinals Win Russell Athletic Bowl

The Louisville Cardinals easily defeated the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday night to win the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth as Louisville won 36-9 in Orlando, Fla. The Cardinals had 554 total yards to Miami's 174.

The No. 18-ranked Louisville was down early after Bridgewater was tackled for a safety, but Miami wouldn't score again until the fourth quarter.

It was their second straight bowl victory. The Cardinals finish the 2013 season with a 12-1 record.

It's Cards vs. 'Canes in Russell Athletic Bowl; Is This Bridgewater's Final Game?

In college football, the Louisville Cardinals will take on the Miami Hurricanes Saturday evening in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

The Cards have an 11-1 regular season record;   the Hurricanes are 9-3.  The teams will share membership in the Atlantic Coast Conference when Louisville joins the league next season.

Many are wondering if this will be the final game for U of L’s Teddy Bridgewater.    The star quarterback has another year of eligibility remaining, but is considered a top prospect for the NFL draft.

Cardinals Preparing for Saturday's Bowl Battle With Miami

The University of Louisville football team is in Orlando, Florida to prepare for Saturday’s Russell Athletic Bowl.

The 11-1 Cards will take on the 9-3 Miami Hurricanes.    

More than two dozen players on the U of L roster were recruited from the Miami area, including junior wide receiver Eli Rogers, who considered signing with the Hurricanes.

Louisville Cardinals to Face Miami in Russell Athletic Bowl; No Bowl Bid For WKU

Louisville will play Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl Dec. 28 in Orlando.

The Cards accepted their bowl bid last week and found out today they will face the Hurricanes.

The 18th-ranked Cardinals (11-1) entered the preseason as the American Athletic Conference favorite, but blew a 21-point lead in their lone loss of the season to Central Florida.

The loss also dealt a blow to the Heisman Trophy campaign for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Cardinals, Bearcats to Battle Thursday for Keg of Nails

A college football rivalry that dates back to 1929 will come to at least a temporary halt after Thursday's battle between the Louisville Cardinals and Cincinnati Bearcats.

This will be the 53rd meeting for possession of the Keg of Nails trophy and both teams’ regular season finale.    The Bearcats hold the series lead, 30-21-1, but the Cards won last year in overtime.

U of L moves to a new conference next season, so the future of the series is uncertain.

College Football: Cards Wrap Up Regular Season Thursday at Cincinnati

In college football, the Louisville Cardinals play their regular season finale Thursday night at Cincinnati.

The Cards and Bearcats are in a second-place tie in the American Athletic Conference standings.

U of L’s only loss this season game at the hands of league-leading Central Florida.

A victory Thursday would all but lock up an invitation for the Cards to the Russell Athletic Bowl December 28 in Orlando.

College Football: Tennessee Beats Kentucky, 27-14

Joshua Dobbs threw two touchdown passes and ran 40 yards for another, and Tennessee broke a four-game losing streak with a 27-14 over rival Kentucky on Saturday night.

The Volunteers (5-7, 2-6 Southeastern Conference) bounced back from their heartbreaking last-minute loss to Vanderbilt by scoring first-half touchdowns on long plays en route to their first victory since upsetting South Carolina in October. Tennessee avoided its first eight-loss season in program history and improved to 76-24-9 against the Wildcats.

College Football Season Finales: Kentucky vs Tennessee, IU Hosts Purdue

The Kentucky Wildcats will host Tennessee Saturday in the college football season finale for both teams.  

Both archrivals are rebuilding their programs under new coaches.

Kentucky is 2-9 under first year coach Mark Stoops, who says it’s been a season of challenges, compounded by injuries and suspensions.

College Football: Cards Hold Off Memphis; Georgia Hammers UK; Indiana Falls at Ohio State

The Louisville Cards improved to 10-1 on the college football season Saturday, defeating Memphis 24-17 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. .

Louisville seemed in control late in the game, leading 24-3 before Memphis cut the lead to seven in the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals were able to hold off the Tigers and register their first senior day win since 2007.   U of L fans said goodbye to 20 seniors playing their last home game of the season.

The Cards' regular season finale is December 5 at Cincinnati.
